LIGHTHOUSE IN CALIFORNIA

A painting depicting the lighthouse at pigeon point near San Francisco. I am experimenting with vivid colours and gouache techniques in this project. I have tried to use a deeper-than-reality blue to express the depth of the ocean.

LET'S CALL IT A DAY

I traversed this path while working in Chattanooga. I have continued my experimentation with colour as a means of conveying meaning, so I chose an unusual palette here. The aim was to suggest a whimsical atmosphere and reflect the unusual, intense emotions between a man and his workplace. When you get off at the end of the day, the mood at work sometimes warps your world-view along the way home. I tried to limit the depth of the painting to convey a sense of confinement, but unfortunately this rendered the painting a bit flat.
